Our Story
Born from the river,
crafted with intention
The Zambezi River — Africa's fourth-longest — doesn't just flow. It nourishes. It sustains ecosystems, communities, and life itself across six countries and 2,574 kilometers. We named our brand after this river because we believe care should work the same way: pure, sustainable, and deeply rooted in the earth.
Every Zambezi product begins with a question: what does your hair and body truly need? We source clean, organic botanicals with proven heritage — rhassoul clay from the Atlas Mountains, argan oil from Morocco, hibiscus from East Africa — and craft them into plastic-free, compostable products that honor both your body and our planet.
The Founders
A mother & daughter rooted in purpose
Zambezi was founded by Cathy and Lynn Lobdell — a mother and daughter team, and two Afro Indigenous women deeply dedicated to natural wellness and beauty. Their shared heritage and reverence for the earth are woven into every product, honoring ancestral wisdom while creating modern rituals for all.
